The Engine Room are this year sharing the success of a huge accolade for Kirklees who have landed a 1 million Euro prize for an innovative idea to help communities get the most from shared assets.
Bloomberg Philanthropies announced the winners in its 2014 Mayors Challenge, an ideas competition that encourages cities to generate innovative ideas that solve major challenges and improve city life – and that have the potential to spread to other cities. And Kirklees was the only UK area to win one of the prizes on offer for schemes that could make the most difference.
Kirklees approached The Engine Room and worked closely with us on a tight deadline to develop their bid. We developed a brand and a new name for the project as well as the content and focussed messaging of the overall idea. The 'Kirklees Shares' project, based on a platform that will provide communities with a long-term solution that saves money, maximises resources, builds relationships and unleashes creativity, was re-named 'comoodle' and unleashed as a credible brand with depth and transferability.
More than 150 top cities from 28 nations entered the 2014 Mayors Challenge. The winning cities were selected based on four criteria: their idea’s vision and creativity, potential for impact, transferability, and viability of implementation. Kirklees were in the top 5 winners, alongside Barcelona, Athens, Stockholm and Warsaw.
Comoodle launches with an internal tour at the end of February 2015 and will be rolling out in the summer.
